Bridgewater Township Police say Nigel Hill, 22, led officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle on Hillcrest Road Tuesday, Feb. 4 after he was identified as a suspect in other home and vehicle burglaries.
Hill did not obey officers’ commands to pull the vehicle over and was speeding, police say.
The pursuit was ended on Washington Valley Road, and a follow-up investigation identified Hill as the suspect.
The following day, Franklin Township Police located the stolen vehicle involved in the pursuit on Parkside Street, unoccupied.
Hill was subsequently observed entering the vehicle, and police tried to initiate a traffic stop.
Hill once again refused to pull the vehicle over and continued to flee, and the pursuit was later ended for public safety on Route 27, police say.
Police successfully recovered the vehicle in New Brunswick Thursday, Feb. 6, authorities said.
Hill has been charged with two counts of second-degree eluding and third-degree burglary. He also has a failure to appear warrant for receiving stolen property out of Somerset County, police say.
Anyone with information about these events or Hill’s current location is asked to contact the Bridgewater Township Police Department at (908) 722-4111, the Franklin Township Police Department at (732) 873-5533 or the Somerset County Prosecutors Office at (908) 231-7100.
